Destination Gathering & Lunch – Crystal Bridges

When: Saturday, 20 June 10:35 congregate / 10:50 departure /11:45 guided tour
Where: Congregate – Orchards Park, WEST parking lot on NE John Deshields Blvd, Bentonville.
Departure – Short “Parade” to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Parking garage.
What: We will make a short “parade” loop from the Orchards Park lot, down the Crystal Bridges entry road, past the Museum entrance, thru the close-in parking ramp and back into the remote parking garage, probably parking on the second level.
We then take a shuttle(s) from the garage to the Museum entrance and regroup in the main lobby. Should have time for a biobreak and maybe cup of coffee.
At 11:40 we need to regather in the southwest corner of the lobby for the 11:45 Big Picture, guided tour. The guided, Big Picture Tour provides an overview of the Museum that will include the 100,000 sq ft expanded gallery and public spaces. The tour mixes Crystal Bridges history, several iconic art pieces, some architectural highlights and an orientation to the space.
After the one-hour tour we can meet in the Museum restaurant ELEVEN for an off-the-menu lunch.
Once you have finished lunch, explore more of the expanded Crystal Bridges’ Art, Grounds, Tours and Activities.
After lunch, individually explore areas of interest including:
- Two Special Exhibitions (America 250 and/or Kieth Haring in 3D),
- at 2:15 a guided Collection Highlights Tour focusing on the art,
- or a self-guided Frank Lloyd Wirght’s Bachman-Wilson Usonian house (get time tickets),
- Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Room (think artistic funhouse mirror room),
- North and/or South grounds trails totaling about 5 miles,
- or the 3rd floor Library of art and architecture.
You can also explore the exteriors of two new buildings on the campus, The Hartland Whole Health Institute and the Alice Walton School of Medicine including its five-story roof landscape.
